- Lecture 1: Curriculum Studies (History of Curriculum and Present Japanese Education)
Target Audience: U.G.2~ Semester: Autumun (Tuesday:2:40p.m.-4:10p.m.)
Course Objective:This lecture aims towards understanding the history and development of curriculum studies from 1920's U.S. to 1980's Japan. The word curriculum itself is old and comes from Latin origin. However, academic and systematic development of curriculum started in the 1920's. Japanese curriculum, especially post-World War II, has been based off U.S. and world trends curriculum development. To understand present Japanese education, students should understand the history of Japanese curriculum related to U.S. and world trends.
- Seminar 2: Curriculum Studies
(Advancement in Students' performance and Curriculum Development)
Target Audience: U.G.3~ Semester: Spring (Tuesday:2:40p.m.-4:10p.m.)
Course Objective:The concept of "academic ability"and"students' performance" has changed dramatically during this decade. How are these concepts understood in present national Curriculum Standard in Japan, especially in textbooks and real school activities? How should one develop school activities and examinations which are based on this concept? This seminar will address these questions and also discuss about present academic ability and students' performance, as well as how students should be educated in school, through discussion, role-play and other various activities.

- Lecture 2: Curriculum Studies(Methodology of Curriculum Studies)
Target Audience: G.S. Semester: Spring (Thursday:2:40p.m.-4:10p.m.)
Course Objective:This lecture aims towards analyzing the various research methods of previous studies. Students will have the opportunity to discover their own method curriculum research. Curriculum Studies has a wide range of different approaches when researching curriculum: Historical, Theorical, Survey studies, experimental and applicative approaches. These approaches develop real programs and suggest them toward schools and teachers.
Students will analyze academic books and analyze the main points, constructions of the chapters and research methods included in them. Finally, students will build up the foundations of their own research. - Seminar 1: Curriculum Studies(Theory and Practice of Citizenship Education)
Target Audience: G.S. Semester: Autumn(Thursday:2:40p.m.-4:10p.m.)
Course Objective:This seminar will discuss about Citizenship education in UK from multiple sides.
Citizenship education is extremely important in a democratic society and several research papers haved discussed their own citizenship education in many different ways. Therefore, this course will discuss about Citizenship education in UK, which is a highly influencial and typical subject, and will get at the nature of citizenship education in pluralistic democratic societies.
We will approach Citizenship in UK from several sides: historical approaches from 1960's ideas to promote comprehensive school to Ajegbo Report in 2007, teacher training programs in Bradford and Canterbury universities, the assessment method developed in QCA, and the real contents of Citizenship developed in different schools.
- Seminar 3: Curriculum Studies(Seminar and presentation)
Target Audience: G.S. Semestar: Spring (Tuesday 6:00p.m.-7:30p.m.)
Course Objective:Every student who wishes to make a dissertation should attend this seminar and present thier own studies.
This lecture will be held in the afternoon on the third Saturday of each month, without regard of formal schedule. - Experiment 1: Curriculum and Instruction
Target Audience: G.S. Semester: Spring (Thursday 6:00p.m.-7:30p.m.)
Course Objective:This lecture will be convened for those who are busy during the day time.

- Seminar: Workshop on Environmental Studies
Target Audience: M.A.1 Semester: 2nd quarter of Spring (Monday 1:00p.m.-4:10p.m.)
Course Description:Q:"What is a simple way to reduce NOx of cars by 50%?"→A:"Carpooling."
To solve the environmental problems society is now faced with, technical breakthrough is not the only necessity, but social, economical and educational approaches are also required for its solution. This seminar, presented to future technicians and scientists, aims at developing multiple perspectives required through simulation games and student debates.

- Lecture: Theory of Life Studies (Teacher Training)
Target Audience: U.G.2~ Semester: Autumun (Friday: 0:40p.m.-2:00p.m.)
Course Objective:This Lecture is consisted of the following four parts: Why was Life Studies established?, What is Life Studies?, Life Studies and its Company, and Life Studies and Relations. Students will understand the history, theory, development and problems of Life Studies.
- Seminor: Creating Life Studies Practices(Teacher Training)
Target Audience: U.G.3~
Semester: Spring(Friday: 2:10p.m.-3:30p.m.)
Course Objective:By taking this seminar, students will find out about the following topics: What is Life Studies?, Experimenting with Life Studies, Developing Life Studies, and Relating Life Studies.
This seminar aims at developing the ability to plan real Life Studies courses. Students will develop this ability through many activities.
Those enrolled in this course will also have the chance to enjoy this seminar with children in primary schools whom also enjoy Life Studies!
